Christ’s Family Church is Launching a Second Service

Christ’s Family Church is adding a second Sunday service. Starting Sunday, September 13, 2026, we’ll gather for worship at two times — 9:00 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. — at our building at 4601 Utica Ridge Road, Davenport, Iowa. Same message. Same welcome. Two chances to gather. Here’s the honest reason why.

Why is Christ’s Family Church adding a second service?

Because we’ve run out of room.

This past Sunday, 272 people filled our sanctuary. That’s the largest single gathering in our church’s history — and the largest regular, non-event Sunday we’ve ever had. No holiday. No special guest. Just a full room on an ordinary weekend.

That’s a gift. It’s also a problem worth solving. Over the past five years, our weekend attendance has roughly doubled — from around 110 to well over 200 most Sundays. When a room fills up, something quiet happens: the person looking for a seat doesn’t find one, and the family visiting for the first time decides there’s no room for them here.

We never want a full room to be the reason someone doesn’t come back.

So we asked a simple question: when you’re out of space, do you build, or do you make room? Building is slow, expensive, and usually means debt. Making room — adding a service — costs far less and does far more, right now. It nearly doubles our capacity in a single Sunday.

This isn’t about numbers for their own sake. Our mission is to reach the lost and teach the saved, and you can’t do either from a room that’s already full. A second service keeps the front door open.

What are the new service times?

Starting September 13, 2026, Christ’s Family Church will hold two identical Sunday services: 9:00 a.m. and 10:40 a.m. Come to whichever fits your morning.

Will the two services be different?

No. Same worship, same message, same heart — just two times.

We’re not splitting into a “traditional” service and a “modern” one, and we’re not becoming two different churches under one roof. Whether you come at 9:00 or 10:40, you’ll experience the same Christ’s Family Church. One church, one family, two gatherings.

Which service should I attend?

Come to the one that fits your life. If your schedule is flexible, consider the 9:00 a.m. — it helps spread us out, keeps room open for guests, and eases the load on our volunteers. Early riser? Take the 9:00. Slow-morning family? The 10:40 is for you.

And here’s the best thing you can do with two services: invite someone. There’s finally room to bring the friend, neighbor, or coworker you’ve been thinking about.

What about my kids?

We’ll have safe, fun, gospel-centered kids ministry (birth–5th grade) at 9am services, Birth through Preschool at 10:40am. Every volunteer is background-checked and trained, and we use secure check-in and check-out so you can worship with peace of mind. Your kids will love it, and so will you.

What if I’ve never been to church?

Come as you are — seriously. You don’t need to dress up, know the songs, or have it all figured out. You’ll find friendly people, honest teaching, and a place to belong. Sit in the back, ask your questions, and take your time. There’s room for you here.

Making room is a biblical instinct

There’s an old picture in Scripture for exactly this moment. When God’s people were about to grow, the prophet Isaiah told them to “enlarge the place of your tent” — to widen the space because more people were coming (Isaiah 54:2, ESV). In the early church, the same thing happened week after week: the Lord kept adding people, and the church kept making room (Acts 2:47).

That’s where we are. God is growing this church, and the faithful response isn’t to guard our space — it’s to widen it. On September 13, we make room.
